Stewardship Moments
1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
The hymn that we sang a few Sundays ago sums it up well: “In Jesus’ name I come to you to share his love as he told me to. He said, ‘Freely, freely, you have received, freely, freely give. Go in my name and because you believe others will know that I live.’” (UMH 389)
Jesus seemed to be always encouraging people to use what they had around them to serve God and other people. Jesus often blessed ordinary people and everyday items to serve God and build up others and communities. Jesus told the parable of the talents teaching his followers to use the gifts, resources and opportunities that God gives them instead of keeping it for themselves or hiding it away (Matthew 25:13-40). Many parts of the Bible speak about care for all of God’s creation--including other people and ourselves. And Jesus says that our joy and our gifts grow when we use them to serve God.
I love the quote from Frederick Buechner that says, The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet. Throughout this summer, we invite you to pray and consider ways to use your gifts and resources here at BUMC and beyond. In Sunday’s bulletin, there will be a Spiritual Gifts and Volunteer Interest Survey. Our hope is that each person that attends BUMC--adults, youth and children--will complete the paper survey or online Google form. Please place completed forms in the offering plate on Sunday mornings or return to the office. Grace & Peace! Pastor Mary

Celebrate Chuck & Dawn Kern This Sunday, June 1st
|
This Sunday, June 1st-following the 10am Service for a potluck-style lunch in the BUMC Fellowship Hall
Join us as we celebrate Chuck & Dawn Kern and all the ways they’ve served and inspired our church community! While the Kerns are moving (not too far!), we know we won’t be seeing them quite as often—so let’s gather together to show our appreciation and love.
• Potluck & Social Time – Bring a dish to share! (If you are not able to bring food to share, please come anyway!)
• Children’s Clothing Drive – In honor of Chuck & Dawn, we’ll be collecting new and gently used children's clothing for our Children’s Clothing Closet. Let’s send the Kerns off with joy, gratitude, and full hearts. See you there!
