Announcements from Pastor Mary

Hello everyone!

Wow!  Next week is Lawn Party Week!  Reach and Relate has already met (last Wednesday) and is getting ready to greet our neighbors with a cold drink of water, a "rest stop" with our restrooms open and information about our church.  If you want to volunteer, feel free to give Jim Tongue, our Reach and Relate Chair a call or just come on out!  We lift up prayers for all who are setting up our Lawn Party, for safe and blessed community time and for a good fundraising effort for our Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department!

Thank you to our Wing Fellowship group for the gathering and meal this past week on July 10th!  It was GREAT to see our college students and hear what you all are up to during the summer.  We had a blast!  Hope you did, too!

Annnndddd as usual, we have lots of great things coming up!

Our Church Picnic will be on Sunday evening, July 27th at Bridgewater's Oakdale Park Shelter #3.  This will be a potluck meal.  Please bring a dish or two to share, if you can.  The Nurture Committee will provide tableware and lemonade & water for drinks.  Please invite friends and family to join us!  It's always a great time to share with each other and talk to someone new!  If you have questions, please contact Susan Gilkeson

BIBLE SCHOOL is coming - August 4 - 7!  See below for more information, registration for kiddos, and let us know if you can help!  Our theme is Step Right Up!  Like the announcer at a Carnival, there is a Divine Caller to invites us to join what God is doing in the world.  Step Right Up!  Come & see!

E-Blast & Email Addresses We would like anyone and everyone who wants to read our E-Blast for information about our church to be able to receive it.  We are working to troubleshoot the addresses we are aware are not being delivered.  If you know of someone who needs help getting connected, please have them contact Robin or Pastor Mary in the Church Office. Thanks!!

Blessings, Pastor Mary

Please continue to share the good news that our worship time is at 10 AM.

Keep inviting friends & neighbors to Sunday School at 9 AM & joyful, meaningful worship at 10 AM!so

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4: 6-7

Lawn Party Outreach - This Week!!!

The Bridgewater Lawn Party is coming July 16—19, the Firemen’s Parade is at 7 PM on Friday and the Antique Car & Tractor Parade is 6 PM on Saturday.  We will meet here at church 1 hour prior to each parade. The Reach & Relate Team leads our church in offering a cold bottle of water, a rest stop (our restrooms are open) and information about our church to our neighbors.  If you are able to help, contact Jim Tongue, Reach & Relate Team or sign up on the sheet in the breezeway.

It's half-time at the Souper Bowl !!!

July 20 and 27 we will be collecting donations for the Bridgewater Interchurch Food Pantry.   The Bridgewater College and Bridgewater COB garden is going great with fresh vegetables.  They could use donations of canned meats (chicken and tuna), canned pastas, pork and beans, soups, etc.   If you prefer to give a cash donation (or check made out to BUMC, please put Interchurch Food Pantry on the memo line), they use those funds to buy dairy products, meats and toiletries.   The Bridgewater Food Pantry is open on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evening at Bridgewater COB.

Thank you for your support

Thank you from Susan Gilkeson

Thank you all for the prayers, cards and texts that were sent following my surgery. I am so thankful to be a part of such a caring and supportive church family.
Blessings to each of you, Susan

Thank you for Supporting Project Healing Waters—Mossy Creek Invitational
by opening your doors to the facility and for holding the veterans and volunteers in your prayers. We had a wonderful day of fishing, fundraising, and most of all fellowship that provides the hurting a chance to heal on the water. Please continue to pray for our service people and veterans. With gratitude, Joan & Dennis Kenney

Thank you from BRCC

On behalf of the  SOAR Center at Blue Ridge Community College, we want to thank you for the food donation you shared during the week of finals. This time at college can be especially stressful for our students, and your contribution helped nourish both their bodies and spirits as they focused on completing their exams. Your kindness served as a powerful reminder that our students are surrounded by a caring and supportive community. Thank you for making a meaningful difference when it was needed.
Many thanks, Donna Clem, SOAR Coordinator

How to Help with the Flooding in Texas

Information from the Virginia Conference

We know that our VAUMC members want to help however we can to assist our Texan neighbors following the recent catastrophic flooding.

Rev. Bob Pihlcrantz, VAUMC Disaster Response Coordinator, is sharing ways we can assist at this time.

-Do not self-deploy! This will overwhelm Texan officials who are already overwhelmed with disaster recovery efforts. We will share more information when officials have asked for Early Response Team (ERT) volunteers.

- Monetary donations are needed! To support our U.S. disaster response efforts through UMCOR, give here: bit.ly/umcorusdr  (Copy and paste into your browser.)

-Please continue to pray for those who have lost loved ones and for all who have been impacted by this devastating disaster.

Please contact missions@vaumc.org if you have questions.
