A Note from Pastor Mary

Hello Everyone!

After 2 weeks away from worship, we plan to be in church tomorrow!!  The forecast looks cold but clear.  We have worked to clear the sidewalks and the parking.  A couple of our men were out this week working to clear a path to the ramp to the back door.  If we need the outside elevator, we can use that. All that being said: please still use your best judgement for coming to church tomorrow.  You know you best.  We would love to see you but we don't want anyone to get hurt.

Tomorrow's worship is all about being the light of the world.  We will celebrate Holy Communion and we will celebrate February Birthdays.  We will receive our SOUPER BOWL offering -- a "loud offering" of coins and a "soft" offering of bills and checks to go to the Interfaith Food Pantry.  Also, drop by the Fellowship Hall for a coffee/hot chocolate and treats, and if you would like to give an offering to help our International College Students, you may do so.  It will be a GREAT time to be together and remember that God is with us, always.

There will also be a Confirmation Interest meeting in the Youth Room at 9:00 AM.

And, as always, see below for what is coming up.

Hope to see you tomorrow!  Blessings, Pastor Mary

Please continue to share the good news that our worship time is at 10 AM.

Keep inviting friends & neighbors to Sunday School at 9 AM & joyful, meaningful worship at 10 AM!

In my distress I called upon the Lord;

to my God I cried for help.

From his temple he heard my voice,

and my cry to him reached his ears.

One Last Word from the VA Conference UMC Advocate -

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German pastor and theologian and Nazi critic in World War II; his words continue to resound for us today:

"Christianity stands or falls with its revolutionary protest against violence, arbitrariness, and pride of power, and with its plea for the weak. Christians are doing too little to make these points clear ... Christendom adjusts itself far too easily to the worship of power. Christians should give more offense, shock the world far more, than they are doing now."
