Sunday, September 3rd Welcome Back College Students!
In worship, we welcome guest musicians, The Bridgewater Brass, led by Wyatt Smith.
Coffee & muffins will be served between the services. Come meet a new friend!
Wear your college shirt or school colors of your alma mater or a school you cheer on and support!
Our scripture focus is: 1 Peter 1:3-9, 13-16. I plan to begin a new sermon series called Revival: Faith as Wesley Lived It, based on the book by the same name by Adam Hamilton. This week, we will look at John Wesley's education and college life. The tile of our sermon is "Heart, Mind and Holiness."

"The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs." Part IV Sec. 1.120 Book of Discipline
Dear Friends in Mission,
Thank you! Your financial support is enabling Global Ministries to fulfill the mission of the Church through evangelism and church growth. And through your financial support you are serving within a vital network of interactive relationships in more than 60 countries.
United Methodist missionaries come from many places and backgrounds, witnessing and serving in dramatically different locales and cultures, engaging in a range of activities and professions as pastors, educators, congregational and leadership developers, regional coordinators for UMCOR, agriculturalists, health coordinators, and doctors.
Thank you for actively partnering with Global Ministries as we move forward in establishing over four hundred new congregations and faith communities in nations around the world. I ask that you pray that others will participate in this exciting movement of the Spirit through evangelism and church growth.

Thank you from Dawn Kern |
I would like to express my thanks to my church family for the prayers, cards, texts, calls, food, flowers, etc... that you showered me with as I was recovering from my total knee replacement. I am doing really well with my recovery and I definitely felt all of your love and concern during this time. We are blessed at BUMC to have such a bond like this. -- Dawn Kern |

Socks and Underwear for the Children's Clothes Closet |
The number of families who are now visiting the Children's Clothes Closet at Mission Central is now over 950 total. Because of this we are finding that clothing and socks and underwear are going quickly. (They are allowed to get 2 pairs of underwear and socks at a visit.)
With "Back to School" sales currently going on at many of the stores, many with packages of socksa nd underwear on sale as well as packs that contain bonus pairs, I felt that this was a good time to highlight this need.
They are in need of both boys and girls sizes 4 to 14/16 (girls) and 4 to 18/20 boys for the underwear all sizes of socks. They said the boys particularly like the higher socks. Please place these items in the marked pink bin that is located in the hallway (under the quilts).
Thank you for your support of this vital ministry! if you prefer to make a donation instead, please make your checks payable to the Children's Clothing Closet with socks and underwear in the memo and we will do the shopping. Questions?? Contact Dawn Kern at 540-246-9478 or dfkrdms61@aol.com . |
