Title: “I Love You, Dad!”
|
There are many Blessings that we experience in life; two of my greatest Blessings are my parents, Matt and Tina Capuano. Although there are 2 official days to “celebrate” our parents on the calendar - Father’s Day and Mother’s Day - I want to take a moment to remember that we can do this every day, in the little and big moments, and all moments in between!
Sunday, June 15 was Father’s Day, and Andrea and I had the opportunity to celebrate with our dads through this whole week! We constantly thank God for the Blessings that our fathers are to us. Having a loving, caring, answering Faith - filled male figure in our lives is so important, especially in our lives today. Matt Capuano and Alvin White meet and go far beyond this goal to a tee! In every situation, they are there for us to talk to, get advice from, and just to hang out!
I know with Matt, he raised me right - we always had music playing from the Beatles, Eagles, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffet, the Grateful Dead, and countless others, we rooted for the Steelers, and we loved school. Most importantly, he and Tina raised us in a very strong Christian Faith! I also know that Alvin did the same with Andrea and Alexa and now extends this love to me as his “J - son,” short for Joey - son!
(Although, we give him some slack for being a Raiders’ fan!
) These two amazing guys are amazing role models and buddies in our lives, and we thank God for them!
In the Scripture, and especially in His Commandments, God asks us to honor our fathers and mothers. On this Father’s Day, we are reminded of that even more. Pastor Mary, you really picked a timely chance to do your Sermon Series that is on the Ten Commandments! Let’s take the time to honor and celebrate our parents / parental figures each and every day of our lives, though!
In my JesusTime Devotion two weeks ago, I talked about a Celtic versions of the “Our Father” Prayer and how it provides us with an opportunity to really ponder on and PRAY the words. We praise God every day for His Blessings, Presence, and Fatherhood in our lives. Let’s view this Father’s Day as a calling to do this each and every day of our lives!
- ps - these photos are great family memories that Drea and I have together and with our fathers. Thanks for always carrying me on your shoulders, Dad!

Your friend in God’s Faith, Hope, and Love,
Joey
