Hello Everyone,

I am trusting that you had a Happy Fourth of July in whatever way you chose to celebrate.  As for me, it was nice to have an additional day of rest to spend with old friends and new friends. I hope that you were able to spend some time with family and friends who are dear to you.  Let's continue to pray for our nation and the world.  Here is a prayer for Independence Day:

Almighty God, you rule all the peoples of the earth.
Inspire the minds of all women and men to whom you have committed
the responsibility of government and leadership
in the nations of the world.
Give to them the vision of truth and justice,
that by their counsel all nations and peoples may work together.
Give to the people of our country
zeal for justice and strength of forbearance,
that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will.
Forgive our shortcomings as a nation;
purify our hearts to see and love the truth.
We pray all these things through Jesus Christ. Amen.

I am excited to be returning to Bridgewater UMC and starting year three as your pastor!  I wonder if you heard Rev. Dr. Marg Kutz say on UWF Sunday something that bears repeating:  "This church is well equipped and the people are lovely." It's very true!  Looking forward to continuing to learn more about YOU and the people of Bridgewater, to get myself out of the building more often, and a great year of serving God together!

We are planning an Outdoor Service next week, July 14th at the 8:30 service to kick off Lawn Party Week.  We will gather for worship and pray for the lawn party and the many volunteers that work so hard that week.  If you know of a business, civic organization or individual(s) that volunteer at the Lawn Party, please invite them to worship.  Bring a lawn chair and wear sunscreen or a hat for protection from the sun.  The 11:00 AM worship service will be the same service and held indoors in the Sanctuary.  Take your pick!

We welcome you to join us this Sunday in person or online!  You can access our live stream from the website (www.bridgewaterumc.com).  Click on "Sermons" and then "Live Steam."  You may also join us directly on YouTube at Bridgewater UMC Virginia and click on the LIVE tab.
