Good afternoon, everyone! Happy last Lawn Party day!
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. -- Colossians 2:6-7
Last night, we were out with one of the biggest crowds that we have seen at the Lawn Party in a while! We prepared 200 bags with invitations to church and more water bottles and they were all gone by the end of the night! We offered smiles and encouragement to all kinds of our neighbors. The TA band looked sharp. The Fire Trucks were shiny. One of the most interesting floats in my opinion were the AgriDrones. Fascinating. We were surprised at how big they were -- mini-helicopters. I'd like to learn more.
What a great time and place to be in ministry! I do see things coming back from the pandemic. It has been slower than we would have hoped. There are changes on Bridgewater's main street and changes around our church. People are seeking connection with community and spirituality. It might look different than we have offered in the past. We have grown in Jesus and grown together as well.
I'm just giving God the glory and thankful to the opportunities that are before us. Thanks be to God. Our Gospel lesson for Sunday comes from Mark and talks about how Jesus had compassion on the crowds that sought him out. He never got angry or frustrated or anxious about the crowds but enjoyed being with people and loved them and listened to them.
Members of the Reach and Relate Team will be out again tonight if you need a bottle of water, a pit stop, or just want to say, "Hi!" AND we hope to see you in worship tomorrow!
Coming in August! Summer Combined Worship at 10 AM
On June 30, the Church Council met and approved ONE worship service on each of the Sundays in August at 10:00 AM. Most Sunday School classes will meet at 9:00 AM. The Faith Bible Class will meet at 8:45 AM. We plan to return to two worship services in the month of September.
We welcome you to join us this Sunday in person or online! You can access our live stream from the website (www.bridgewaterumc.com). Click on "Sermons" and then "Live Steam." You may also join us directly on YouTube at Bridgewater UMC Virginia and click on the LIVE tab.

Mission Trip! Well, first of all, we want you to know that you are welcome and invited to our Mission Trip September 27-29 in Lynchburg. We will be working with Harvest of Hope to go gleaning in the fields and learn about hunger in our world! Contact Rhonda Johnson if you need more information or want to go!!
Now the devotion: Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress 1 Timothy 4:15 (NLT)
God has given you a purpose. You are vital to Gods plan on the earth. However, often its easy to let the opinions of others stop you from believing your value to God. For example, the harsh words of a student in your math class can sink in and make you doubt your importance. One good way to overcome the doubts is to begin to throw yourself into God. When you become focused on what God says about you, it becomes more important than the opinions of others. So when possible, throw yourself into things that God has for you. Focus on making yourself better and getting to know God more. Todays Truth: When you become focused on what God says about you, it becomes more important than the opinion of others.]
Youll be surprised at how much you grow when you do this. It might not feel like youre making big strides, but over time, youll see good results. So today, choose to spend time focusing on God. Focus on what He says about you and what Hes called you to do. As you do that and develop your gifts, youll be amazed at the progress you make!
