Happy New Year!

A Prayer for the New Year 2025

God of the ages, you have blessed us with another year.

Help us to make room for the blessings that
are in store for us in the coming months.

May we be open to learn the right lessons, even if they hurt a little.

Help us to be patient so that we wont miss divine opportunities.

Show us how to be fulfilled without material possessions, so
that we will not miss what it means to be a blessed people.

Enable us to be a blessing so you will recognize us as the ones who
gave you bread when you were hungry,

drink when you were thirsty,

and clothes when you were naked.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Adaptation of a prayer by the Rev. Kevin B. Smalls, go to http://www.umc.org/what-we-believe/downloadable-prayers-for-the-new-year to view downloadable prayers.

Please continue to share the good news that worship time is at 10 AM & invite friends and neighbors to Sunday School at 9 AM and joyful, meaningful worship at 10 AM!

Wow! Wow! Wow!  Glory to God in the highest and peace to all people on earth!

Dear Friends, We certainly "pulled out all the stops" in worship this Christmas!  Thank you to all of our musicians, singers, children, and all of our hearts together joining in praise to our God and telling the story once again of Jesus' birth!  Thank you!  If you were not able to join us or you want to share our service(s) with someone else, they are posted on our YouTube page!

Worship in January is all about beginning a new year focused again on God & following Jesus!  We will start with Epiphany Sunday, celebrating the arrival of the Magi presenting their gifts to Jesus.  We will share in Holy Communion.  Later in the month (TBA) will will have a service to renew our baptism and our membership vows.  Let's grow together in 2025!

Blessings, Pastor Mary

Children's Ministry News!  from Joey Capuano

Hello everyone!! Tiny Tims and our Prayer has been answered! God blessed us, everyone! with an AWESOME Christmas Childrens Program, Christmas Eve, & Christmas Day with our families & friends! Thank you all for your amazing support of our Childrens Ministry! With an active Childrens Ministry, we know we have a bright future as a faith family!

Here are some preliminary plans for 2025!  Stay tuned! :)

January: HAPPY NEW YEAR BLESSINGS!

Skating into the New Year! This coming Saturday, January 11th at 2:00 PM, we will go ice skating at Generations Park in Bridgewater. Get those thick socks and warm clothes ready!

February:  Sun, Feb 9 - Love Service

The children will be singing as we present a Love Service with Bible Songs about Love. What better way to celebrate Valentines Day? (We will be rehearsing in portions of Sunday School Jan & Feb; and work with our Sunday School teachers.)

Coming in April: An AWESOME month!

1.) Sun, Apr 13 Palm Sunday! The children will participate in the palm procession & sing with the adult choir.  Hosanna!

2.) Sun, Apr 13 4:00 PM - Easter Egg Hunt & Community Potluck Dinner at Oakdale Park

- All children are invited to Oakdale Park (shelter # TBD) for a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt!

- At 5:00 PM, everyone is invited to our Pre - Easter Potluck Dinner. This will be such a fun way to start out our spring break for Rockingham County Public School kiddos and families, and we just want a way to celebrate Easter together. this way, families can celebrate Easter as a Church and then be free to travel and / or celebrate the actual Easter weekend in their own ways. We will invite all community members to bring a dish / food / beverage item to share!

As Pastor Mary always says, GOD IS GOOD! Lets continue to share THIS MOST AWESOME TRUTH with all the world!

As always, your friend in Faith, Hope, and Love,  Joey

Clothes Closet Update - HUGE Thanks!!

The generosity of our congregation & whole community has been overwhelming!  To date, BUMC has donated 90 pairs of pjs, sleepers, or pj pants to the Closet! We also donated coats, socks, underwear and other miscellaneous clothing items plus toys and personal care items for the moms. The Circle of Hope assembled 310 treat bags that were given to the children during December.

Through the Cracked Pillar's Giving Tree, over 50 coats, 50 sets of pj's & sleepers, and 50 packs of underwear have been donated along with some socks, diapers, wipes, and toys.

You all have truly made a difference in the lives of these children! We currently have 1,400 families registered at the Childrens Clothes Closet with an average of 400 families visiting per month so the need is great. Thank you for answering the call to spread the love of Christ this Christmas season as well as throughout the year. God bless!

                                               ~~Dawn Kern

We have received word from Laura Powell that Bridgewater Retirement Community is in need of volunteers to help residents in wheelchairs attend chapel on Sunday afternoons.  No experience required -- BRC will train.  The need right now is especially this Sunday, January 5th, and the 12th, & 19th.  A brief Wheelchair Training starts 3 PM at Lantz Chapel. Vespers is at 4 PM and you will be done by 5 PM.  If you are interested, please contact the Church Office (adminasst@bridgewaterumc.com or 828-0890) or sign up in the breezeway.  Let's see if we can help meet this need!  Thank you!  Pastor Mary
