Please continue to share the good news that worship time is at 10 AM & invite friends and neighbors to Sunday School at 9 AM and joyful, meaningful worship at 10 AM!
Worship in January is all about beginning a new year focused on God & following Jesus Christ!
We are watching the weather for tomorrow, Jan 19, and will let you know if we cannot be there. Please check your email and/or the WHSV for cancellations. As always, please make the best decision for you when deciding to come to church!
Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast, Rev. Gomez has decided to postpone his visit to our church until February.
Next Sunday, January 26th, we will celebrate Jesus' baptism and remember our own baptism that names us and claims us as God's children.
Let's grow together in 2025! Blessings, Pastor Mary

Dear Friends,
Last week, someone out there in cyberspace took it upon themselves to impersonate me and my telephone contacts asking for Apple I-phone gift cards for women cancer patients. It was from a number with a (202) area code. My cell area code is a different one. It was not me.
We will not contact you from church and ask for your help in this way--especially by text message. Be aware of these scams. I suggest you block the number, report it as spam, &/or delete the number. Unfortunately, these and other scams are out there & can be very confusing.
The "silver lining" was that I got to talk to many of you & you were very gracious in willing to help! I will continue to do everything I can in the future to prevent this from happening.
Blessings, Pastor Mary |

Hi, BUMC kiddos, friends, and families!
Thank you for all of your support for our January skating event! We had a blizzard!
Here is whats coming up! We are SO excited!
February Sunday, February 9 Love Service
On Sunday, February 9, the children will be singing with Joan, the adult choir, and me as we present a Love Service with childrens Bible Songs relating to Love. What better way to ring in the week of Valentines Day?!?
We will be rehearsing these Songs during Childrens Sunday School in the month of January and February. Rehearsing will start on Sunday, January 26 from 9:30 AM - 9:45 AM. The Sunday School teachers will bring the kiddos up from the classroom to rehearse in the choir room with Joey and Joan. If you are not there for Sunday School, feel free to still come to rehearsal! Any kid is welcome to join!)
March stay tuned for info on a St. Patricks Day event!
April An AWESOME month!
1.) Sun, April 13 Palm Sunday Service
The children will be participating in the palm Procession and singing with the adult choir with songs where we can proclaim Hosanna!
2.) Sun, April 13 Easter Egg Hunt & BUMC Community Potluck Dinner at Oakdale Park
- At 4:00 PM on Palm Sunday afternoon, all children are invited to Oakdale Park (shelter # TBD) for a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt! The DUMBUM Youth Group will be hiding these goodies, so we know there will be good hiding places!
- At 5:00 PM, following the Easter Egg Hunt (shelter # TBD), all BUMC community members, friends, and family are invited to our Pre - Easter Potluck Dinner. This will be such a fun way to start out our spring break for Rockingham County Public School kiddos and families, and we just want a way to celebrate Easter together. this way, families can celebrate Easter as a Church and then be free to travel and / or celebrate the actual Easter weekend in their own ways. We will invite all community members to bring a dish / food / beverage item to share! As Pastor Mary always says, GOD IS GOOD! Lets continue to share THIS MOST AWESOME TRUTH with all the world!
As always, your friend in Faith, Hope, and Love, Joey

We have received word from Laura Powell that Bridgewater Retirement Community is in need of volunteers to help residents in wheelchairs attend chapel on Sunday afternoons. No experience required -- BRC will train. The need right now is especially this Sunday, January 12th & 19th. A brief Wheelchair Training starts 3 PM at Lantz Chapel. Vespers is at 4 PM and you will be done by 5 PM. If you are interested, please contact the Church Office (adminasst@bridgewaterumc.com or 828-0890) or sign up in the breezeway. Let's see if we can help meet this need! Thank you! Pastor Mary |

Thank you from The Society of St. Andrew ~Chesley Vohden, Director of Church Relations~ |
Thank you BUMC for making The Society of St. Andrew your partner in ending hunger. Through your gift, you shared fresh, nutritious produce with people who simply don't have enough to eat. Your gift helps The Society of St. Andrew continue to work on the frontlines with volunteer gleaners in hands-on mission and service, rescuing food that would have been lost as waste and using it to feed hungry Americans. Through The Society of St. Andrew's network, every $1 given puts 20 servings of healthy food on the tables of people in the greatest need. |
Thank you from UMC Global Ministries/UMCOR Roland Fernandes, General Secretary |
The people your church helped with a gift to UMCOR may never have an opportunity to meet you, but if they did their response would likely be "Thank you!" Your financial support serves a vital network of interactive relationships the U.S.A. and 60+ countries in which UMCOR and partnering agencies engage in direct ministries to persons in need. May we continue to reveal the love of God to people of all backgrounds and demonstrate the healing power of the gospel to those who suffer. |
