In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. ~ Luke 2:8-11
This Sunday is the 4th Sunday of Advent AND Christmas Eve! Wow!

The waiting is almost over! Christmas is nearly here! Have you seen The Gift of the Present? Soon we will light the Christ candle and sing hymns of joy to celebrate the birth of our Savior. I challenge you to reflect on the time, love and care that has gone into gifts that are now beneath your tree and gift. How great a love is that? Remember our love for one another is only a dim reflection of God's abundant love for us! As you gather at the table today, invite everyone present to add a coin to your Society of St. Andrew coin box, in thanks and gratitude for those who love and care for you -- and in thanks and gratitude for the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, born this day in Bethlehem for all time and all people. Amen. |
