Tomorrow is Transfiguration Sunday -- the threshold between Epiphany and the season of Lent. Lent begins this week on Wednesday at our Ash Wednesday Service (7:00 PM in the Sanctuary) which is also Valentine's Day! Ash Wednesday reminds us of God's great love for us as God forgives our wrongs and our sin in love. As someone else observed, you cannot spell VaLENTine's Day without Lent.
Transfiguration Sunday is the day when Jesus chose a few disciples and went up on a mountain to pray. While there, the disciples saw Jesus glorified. While they wanted to stay on the mountain and worship God (for a long time), Jesus reminded them that they had much work still to do as he set his face toward Jerusalem. Come to church for... the rest of the story...
We are becoming the people of God. We will worship at 8:30 AM & 11 AM. Sunday School classes will continue. There will be Kid's Time at both services. Nursery and Children's Church are both open. During Kid's Time the United Women in Faith and the children will lead us our Souper Bowl offering! Please bring your coins, bills and checks for our Souper Bowl! Donations will be split between Mission Central and Bridgewater Interfaith Food Pantry.
Join us this Sunday in person or online! You can access our live stream from the website (www.bridgewaterumc.com). Click on "Sermons" and then "Live Steam." You may also join us directly on YouTube at Bridgewater UMC Virginia and click on the LIVE tab.

From Charterhouse School
Thank you for your generous donation to Charterhouse School. We appreciate you so much and will put this donation to good use for our students.
From UMFS - United Methodist Family Services
Thank you for your donation of $100.00 received on Thursday, January 18, 2024. We deeply appreciate your generous support of the children and families of UMFS. From our founding in 1900 as the Virginia Conference Orphanage, UMFS has partnered with local churches and church members like you to live out our mission. Today we serve children in foster care and children struggling with mental health and behavioral challenges through foster and adoption programs, specialized education schools, and residential treatment programs.
We are honored to partner with faithful people like you who serve as unwavering champions for high-risk children and families in Virginia. Your gift will help vulnerable children get the support they need to overcome challenging circumstances and achieve their full potential. We are grateful for your partnership with this mission. |
