Hello Everyone!

This past week was Bible School - Mission Deep Sea!  Our S.E.A. agents (the children) learned about the DEEP love of God for each one of us.  We heard about how God led Moses to free people from slavery in Egypt and took them through the Red Sea.  We learned about the story of the boy who offered his lunch and saw Jesus multiply it to feed 5,000 people.  We heard the story of how Jonah was called to share God's love with Ninevah and after a trip in the belly of a great fish told them about God's love and everyone in Ninevah grew to know God and was saved.  We heard Jesus story of salvation how he was born a baby and grew up and died on the cross for each of us and then rose from the dead.  This shows Gods great love for us!

Our scripture memory verse is "How wide, how long, how high and how deep is the LOVE of GOD!"  Ephesians 3:17-18.  Thank YOU to everyone who made our VBS special!  For the families and children who participated and for our amazing youth & adult leaders!

Of course, this message is not just for the people of Ninevah, or a hillside in long ago Jerusalem.... It's not just for those who survive a trip in the belly of a big fish or try to run away from God...   Not just a prayer that Paul prayed for the Ephesians... but for each one of us.  God is sending messages of God's love to you every day!  Every day there are new ways to share about how DEEP and how LONG and how HIGH and how WIDE is the love of God for YOU and your neighbor!  Great week!  Great message!  Let's live it!

We welcome you to join us this Sunday in person or online!  You can access our live stream from the website (www.bridgewaterumc.com).  Click on "Sermons" and then "Live Steam."  You may also join us directly on YouTube at Bridgewater UMC Virginia and click on the LIVE tab.

With the Bridgewater Lawn Party quickly approaching, we at the Bridgewater Police Department are busy making sure we have the proper personnel in place to make the event as smooth and safe as possible.  It takes a tremendous number of volunteers to make this a successful event.  In the past we have relied on volunteers to assist with the detour route during the Fireman's Parade and Steam and Antique Car and Tractor Parade.  I am reaching out to see if anyone in your organization would be willing to assist with this years event.  We will need approximately 10 volunteers on the nights of July 19th & 20th.  On Friday the 19th volunteers are needed from 6:00pm-8:30pm, and Saturday the 20th  from 5:00-7:30pm.  Duties will simply be to keep traffic flowing along the detour route.  If you have anyone interested in assisting, please have them reach out to me as soon as possible.

 Thank you, Sergeant Aaron Will

Hi there!! I wanted to thank the BUMC team for the food bags that you have provided throughout the year. They have truly made such a difference and the kids have looked forward to them each week. Every week I have at least one friend come up and ask me is it time for my bag yet?. We passed out the summer bags this morning. They are going to be so thrilled! I know it is time consuming and an expense, but know you all are so dearly appreciated to both students and their families. It makes such a difference ♥

The Virginia Annual Conference will meet this coming week June 19, 20, & 21 in Hampton, VA.  The theme is "A Conference in Three Movements."   Here is what the theme means:  "This theme emerges from the belief that there are three principal movements of the Holy Spirit taking place in the present era of the church:

  1. The theological movement from prevenient grace to sanctification. This is the movement of the Holy Spirit in the human heart.
  2. The historical movement of Methodism captured in our past, lived in our present, and pointed toward our future. This is the movement of the Holy Spirit in the church.
  3. The missional movement from gathered spaces into all the world. This is the movement of the Holy Spirit in community.

These movements build upon each other, intertwining together to demonstrate what has been, what is, and what will be as God continues to move amongst Gods people....  As we prepare to gather in Hampton..., we hope members of the Annual Conference will begin to consider the role of these three movements in their lives, the lives of their churches, and the lives of the communities we are called to serve."

Attending for BUMC are Rev. Mary Dadisman and Paul McFarland.  (Each year, our church has a clergy representative and a lay representative.)  Johna McFarland and Cheryl Reiman were elected by the Shenandoah River District as District representatives.  For future years, there are openings for youth to be a part of the "Youth Delegation" (ages 11-18ish) and Young Adults delegates (ages 18-30).

For more information about Annual Conference, please see our conference website at www.vaumc.org.

There is a series of videos with information about Annual Conference on the VAUMC YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/@vaumcvideos.  I encourage you to watch these.  Many of them are 3 minutes or less.  Annual Conference is live streamed and the link should be on the website when conference begins.
